'Miaitalia' as it is today, has been a work in progress since owner David was in his teens. David's grandmother, Gina, was born and lived in Tuscany, Italy, until she was in her early twenties - before she moved to Kendal after the Second World War to work in her Auntie's cafe, 'Tognarelli’s' on Finkle Street.
Albeit in a modern, contemporary dining space, miaitalia is in part a tribute to David's Italian heritage.
Shaped by Italian Ethos.
Having spent a lot of time in Italy, both as a child with his parents - and then latterly with wife Katy and their boys Joseph,George and Leo, David's exposure to a culture which is very family-orientated has shaped his ethos at miaitalia. Children are welcomed anytime, and are given the opportunity to make their own pizza at their table.
Encouraging diners to come and have what they like, whatever time they would like it - is very much what Katy and David hoped to achieve at miaitalia.
In the Summer of 2014, a new outdoor dining area was added to the existing building.
'The Terrace' increased the seating capacity of the pizzeria from 50 to 75, and giving customers the chance to enjoy Mediterranean-style dining whatever the weather (well, almost!).
Our outdoor space is covered and heated, so can be used year-round. It is particularly busy across the Summer months and is often fully-booked. The Terrace is also available to hire for large parties and private functions. For further details speak to a member of our team on 01524 823323.
